I've suffered hand and wrist pain for years on the job as a clerk-typist. I've reported it many times over four years. We got a new HR rep and this one made me fill out a WC claim form. I have the heaviest typing duties in my department and I asked for duties which require less typing. My employer flat out refused. I thought, this is nuts.
The doctors gave me a modified work order. The employer said I still have to do all the work and gave me a written warning that I would be fired if I didn't complete all my work same as before.
My condition became so bad that at one point my dominant hand became numb and I couldn't move it. I took the day off and went to my doctor.
My condition improved by the time of my examination. My doctor sent me back to work with the same work restriction. I have an attorney, but he isn't available and doesn't return calls.
My doctor said that after she does some tests she may be able to take me off work. She implied that I could always just quit my job. Yeah, I suppose I could do that and live on the street and maybe get food from a homeless shelter. That's a good idea.
It seems to me everybody in the whole process is heartless. I feel like I should me wearing a tag that says, "disposable person."
