Assaulted At Work

I was assaulted by a developmentally disabled adult I was working with.

He is at least 6'6" and over 250lbs. He choked me with both of his hands, shaking my neck in all directions, pulled my left arm, and got me in a bear hug from behind. I thought I was going to die. I still suffer from the nightmares.

I was let go from my job 13 days later and have filed a lawsuit against the company.

I was supposed to have surgery in January, but the insurance co. refused it and instead made me go for a second opinion which I did. I am still waiting for the results.

I was diagnosed with a high grade breast cancer 2 months after I was let go and have not had any insurance coverage.

I am still in physical therapy, but cannot move my arm in certain directions without pain. It is also the my dominant arm.

It was clear to me from the start that the doctors the company forces you to go to side with the workers comp insurance. I had several doctors tell me it was just a neck strain. I have been denied surgery, have lived in poverty with no insurance, and now am facing breast cancer.

If there is a lesson to be learned from this it is "do not give up and settle unnecessarily". I will fight these people til my dying day if I have to.
